The NBT-D/S3 rotor hub sensor is used to measure the rotational speed of a rotor, e.g. a shaft.
Through the combination of tilt and rotation rate sensor in MEMS design, the rotation speeds are measured without the sensor being firmly connected to the axis of rotation. Special mathematical filter functions result in a very accurate rotation rate signal that is independent of disturbance acceleration and temperature and can be used for safe monitoring and control of the rotation.
This makes the sensor an inexpensive and easy-to-install alternative to many common magnetic tape sensors and add-on encoders with complex mounting.
